Description
Summary:In engineering, often times there is a need to do a test on a tool or a product to know its quality. The test can cause damage on the product or tool which is quite harmful, hence testing method using simulation was developed. The more complex a simulation is, the higher the required specification of the computer to run the simulation. Yet computer that can do high-level computation like this needs quite a lot of space for its placement and its price is quite expensive. Therefore, an internet-based computing facility is developed so it won’t need any physical room, that is named cloud computing. The cost of using this computing facility will be based on the kind of service that is used and its duration. The research procedur that is used in the writing of this final project is to do a variety of simulations using ANSYS 18.1, in this case, fluid dynamics and heat transfer. Simulation is run using local computer and cloud computing to see the performance of both and then compare the two. Through the research that has been done, it can be concluded that using cloud computing has some profits. Among them are cheaper cost for short duration usage, saving physical space, accessibility, various choices that can be used, and data security. Meanwhile, its weakness is that user must always aware of the usage duration, and that cloud computing can only be used if one has stable and fast internet connection.
