ACCURACY AND PRECISION STUDY OF SELF-MONITORING COMMERCIAL DEVICES FOR BLOOD GLUCOSE, URIC ACID, AND CHOLESTEROL BLOOD TEST IN LUPUS PATIENTS
Lupus is an autoimmune disease that causes chronic inflammation. Increases or decreases in blood glucose, uric acid, and cholesterol levels can occur in people with lupus (odapus), so a simple checkup can be done independently (selfmonitoring). INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/46354 Lupus is an autoimmune disease that causes chronic inflammation. Increases or decreases in blood glucose, uric acid, and cholesterol levels can occur in people with lupus (odapus), so a simple checkup can be done independently (selfmonitoring). In the use of self-monitoring commercial devices there is the possibility of errors and inaccuracies in measurement results. The study aimed was to determine accuracy and precision of 3 brands self-monitoring devices, find out the application of 3 brands self-monitoring devices for measuring blood glucose, uric acid, and cholesterol levels in odapus, and to determine the effect of currently status of the disease and drug use on odapus against the results of measurement from 3 brands self-monitoring commercial devices. Accuracy and precision study were done against 2 different populations namely healthy volunteers and odapus. Accuracy study was conducted by comparing the results of measurement from 3 self-monitoring devices to the clinical laboratory result. The data obtained are then analyzed by paired t test. Precision study was conducted by looking at the significance of difference in the results of measurements for the several times based on the Cronbach’s alpha parameter. Blood glucose, uric acid, and cholesterol levels in odapus were measured using 3 self-monitoring devices that have been tested for accuracy and precision. The results obtained then were compared against healthy volunteers. Based on statistical analysis, the three of self-monitoring devices that were tested proved to be accurate and precise for the measurement of blood glucose and uric acid levels. Whereas the measurement of cholesterol level from the three devices proved to be inaccurate comparing to the clinical laboratory result as standard and 1 device was not precise, proven statistically with Cronbach's alpha value of 0,111. The results of this study indicate that the use of drugs on odapus does not affect the results of measurements of blood glucose, uric acid, and cholesterol levels. text |

Lupus is an autoimmune disease that causes chronic inflammation. Increases or
decreases in blood glucose, uric acid, and cholesterol levels can occur in people
with lupus (odapus), so a simple checkup can be done independently (selfmonitoring). In the use of self-monitoring commercial devices there is the
possibility of errors and inaccuracies in measurement results. The study aimed was
to determine accuracy and precision of 3 brands self-monitoring devices, find out
the application of 3 brands self-monitoring devices for measuring blood glucose,
uric acid, and cholesterol levels in odapus, and to determine the effect of currently
status of the disease and drug use on odapus against the results of measurement
from 3 brands self-monitoring commercial devices. Accuracy and precision study
were done against 2 different populations namely healthy volunteers and odapus.
Accuracy study was conducted by comparing the results of measurement from 3
self-monitoring devices to the clinical laboratory result. The data obtained are then
analyzed by paired t test. Precision study was conducted by looking at the
significance of difference in the results of measurements for the several times based
on the Cronbach’s alpha parameter. Blood glucose, uric acid, and cholesterol
levels in odapus were measured using 3 self-monitoring devices that have been
tested for accuracy and precision. The results obtained then were compared against
healthy volunteers. Based on statistical analysis, the three of self-monitoring
devices that were tested proved to be accurate and precise for the measurement of
blood glucose and uric acid levels. Whereas the measurement of cholesterol level
from the three devices proved to be inaccurate comparing to the clinical laboratory
result as standard and 1 device was not precise, proven statistically with
Cronbach's alpha value of 0,111. The results of this study indicate that the use of
drugs on odapus does not affect the results of measurements of blood glucose, uric
acid, and cholesterol levels.
