The problem is due to the limited ability to navigate in indoor mobility activities. Where in public buildings have a variety of areas to be addressed, barriers that can be have a risk, and the important information about the indoor environment that should be accessable to public facilities. The needs based on the problem of indoor navigation have not been able to find the right solution for the visually impaired in the aspect of navigation aids that already exist today. Based on this background, this study aims to design indoor navigation aids for the visually impaired to improve the ability and independence when doing activities in public buildings. In term of collecting data, the methodology is done by finding references related to navigation problems for the visually impaired through literature studies and field surveys, then the data are analyzed, from the results of the analysis then can be used as a reference in making design concepts. After the chosen of design concept, the continued with prototyping the navigation aids products in the form of a model with a scale of 1:1 comparison. text |
