Description
Summary:The richness of Indonesian culture is not only stored in traditional clothing, dances, or regional languages, but also through traditional jewelry. One type of Indonesian jewelry is Kandawarik, which is a characteristic of the South Sulawesi region. Kandawarik Jewelry Type is a type of filigree jewelry. But Kandawarik is different and has a characteristic in the form of the frameworks arranged and filled with precious metal threads (gold or silver). Kandawarik has a monotonous design, due to the lack of knowledge of the craftsmen about designing a product. The monotonous design of Kandawarik makes it difficult for Kandawarik to compete in the Indonesian Jewelry Market Industry. The potential that exists in Kandawarik can be developed, so that it can remain competitive in the Indonesian Jewelry Market Industry. The trick is to take advantage of the characteristics of the Kandawarik, then combine it with the design concept of Contemporary Jewelry based on South Sulawesi's distinctive ornaments, for example: incorporating local cultural concepts (Lontara 'Makassar and Toraja carvings). If this is done, it can increase marketing and develop a monotonous design from Kandawarik.
