Summary: | Cysteine is one of several amino acid that contains su lfur. which plays an imp rtant ole _in the metabolism of a number of biochemica l compounds. Lack of the amount_ of cyteme tn _ the human body can cause several diseases such as slow child growth. ha1r dep1gmentatton,
edema. liver damage, loss of muscle strength and fat. Therefore, we need a method for determining cysteine levels. In this study, a method was developed to determine cysteine levels with a differential pulse voltammetry technique using carbon paste electrodes mapped with cysteine molecules with glutam i c acid as the monomers. Optimum electrode performance was obtained under conditions of 25 cycles of electropolymerization. analytes:monomer composition I: 2 in a pH 7 buffer solution. The measurement working area was in the range of 100 11M- 1000 11M with a detection limit of67.74jlM. Measurement of cysteine with these electrodes has a good repeatability which is indicated by the value ofO/o RSD which is below the % value of Horwitz RSD for the measurement of cysteine I mM. Measurement of L cysteine supplement samples using these electrodes resulted in 98.7% recovery
