Description
Summary:The traffic performance of a road network are influenced by the traffic flow through the intersections. JI.Soekarno Hatta-JI.Ibrahim Adjie Intersection in Bandung city is a signalized intersection which face traffic problem during the peak hour periods especially in weekday and cause the vehicles to spend enough time to the intersection when the traffic signal is operating. The aim of this study is to evaluate the traffic performance of the existing signalized intersection by using empirical method, analytical method and micro-analytical method during the peak hour. Compare the results between empirical method, analytical method and micro-analytical method of existing signalized intersection. The improvement of existing signalized intersection were carried out by using micro-analytical method based on three scenario. The existing analyzed results based on empirical method which is IHCM 1997 shows that during the morning peak hour the intersection delay was 37.79 sec/pcu while during the evening it was 42.63 sec/pcu. For analytical method which is US HCM 2010 the intersection average delay was 90.381 sec/veh during the morning peak and 49.919 sec/pcu during evening peak hour. The existing condition based on micro-analytical method which is SIDRA INTERSECTION 5.1 software shows that the intersection average delay was 143.6 sec/pcu and 109.2 sec/pcu during the evening peak hour. During the improvement of existing intersection three stages were used but the first which is signal setting was proposed to be used in present while the third stage which is flyover was proposed to improve the performance for the future. Based on SIDRA INTERSECTION 5.1 the intersection average delay were improved to 48.89% and 59.07% during morning and evening peak hour respectively.
