DEVELOPMENT CONSTITUTIVE MODEL OF NON-LINEAR SINGLE SURFACE HYPERPLASTICITY NORSAND TO PREDICT THE LIQUEFACTION BEHAVIOR ON SAND

The liquefaction phenomenon occurs due to earthquake which results in damage to infrastructure, non-structure and loss of life. Large and rapid earthquake shocks cause liquefaction on saturated loose sand. Liquefaction is process to reacting the properties of solid soil material to be like a liquid...

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/46511 The liquefaction phenomenon occurs due to earthquake which results in damage to infrastructure, non-structure and loss of life. Large and rapid earthquake shocks cause liquefaction on saturated loose sand. Liquefaction is process to reacting the properties of solid soil material to be like a liquid that increased in pore water pressure and reduced effective stress. In the last decade, intensive studies of liquefaction behavior have been carried out both exerimentally and theoretically. One of important theoretical aspect in developing constitutive model is the obligation to fulfill various basic laws of physics such as conservation of energy, conservation of mass & momentum, and thermodynamics. This research focuses on the theoretical study of developing a constitutive model to predict liquefaction behavior using critical state soil mechanics based on thermodynamics laws regarding energy conservation and dissipation energy. In this study, the developed model will be calibrated against the experimental results from Triaxial Undrained and Cyclic Simple Shear tests to see the performance of developed model in predicting behavior static of liquefaction and cyclic liquefaction. The purpose of this research is to conduct a development study of a constitutive model that is able to predict the characteristics of saturated loose sand. text
