The West Java Regional Marketing of PT. Pusri has responsible on the carrying and distributing fertilizer of Urea, SP-36/TSP, and ZA from the first line to the fourth line in the whole of West Java regional. The demand for (urea) fertilizer in West Java fluktuate every month in accordance with the seasonal own characteristic of (urea) fertilizer demand, until made compulsory an effective and efficient of inventory system for filled the those fertilizer request.<p align=\"justify\"> <br />
Now inventory system of (urea) fertilizer is applied by the West Java PPD of PT. Pusri was effective but still not efficient yet. In effectiveness subject, the PPD of PT. Pusri in West Java have could guarantee availability of urea fertilizer in accordance with farmer\'s (customer\'s) demand. Whereas for an efficiences subject has reflected of the (urea) fertilizer inventory cost was highly quite, that is, less and more than one billion rupiahs in 1997. Besides if the company has used an economic order quantity method and continous review system in its inventory system, so the (urea) fertilizer inventory cost has required about one hundred million rupiahs. Then the inventory cost safety occure as 90%.<p align=\"justify\"> <br />
The proposed inventory system for applied by the West Java Regional Marketing (PPD) of PT. Pusri in 1998, that is with the economic order quantity (EOQ) as 1.560 tons, the safety stock as 6.332 tons, and the reorder point as 14.132 tons, with using the continous review system (Q system), then would be save the fertilizer of urea inventory cost as less and more than 90% (as amount Rp. 902.357.632) compared with the resulted in 1997 for the same cost.<p align=\"justify\"> <br />
The logical consequences of this proposed inventory system, then needed to taken further evaluation within distribution and storage of (urea) fertilizer, perhap including the new require investment in the transportation and storage facility, in example, increasing the quantity of railway coach, trucks vehicles, warehouse capacity, etc. |
