Earlier showed that the concentrations of PM2,5 and PM10 in the dry season are higher than in the rainy season, which likely affected by dusts concentrations which were high in the summer. Another factor that affects the change in particulate concentration is meteorological parameters such as rainfall. This research is focused to investigate the differences of chemical composition of fine particulate (PM2,5) and coarse particulates (PM10-2,5) in the rainy season and dry season in Jakarta. The sampling method was done manually by the Gent stacked filter sampler, where coarse and fine filters were installed in the stacked filter unit's black container. Determination of coarse and fine particulate masses used gravimetric principle by the mettler toledo semi micro balance tool. To find the elements compositions in the coarse and fine particles collected on the filters Epsilon 5 EDXRF was used. The results showed that the average concentration of particulates in Jakarta during the rainy season was lower than in the dry season. The average concentration of PM2,5 in the rainy season was 15,31 µg/m3 and the average concentration of PM2,5 in the dry season was 26,76 µg/m3. The average concentration of PM10-2,5 in Jakarta during the rainy season is 28,69 µg/m3 and the average concentration of PM10-2,5 in the dry season is 35,05 µg/m3. PM10 concentration in the rainy season was 44 µg/m3 and the average concentration of PM10 in the dry season was 61,80 µg/m3. Based on the t-test results it is known that for the chemical components of fine particulates (PM2,5), the concentrations of BC, Al, Si, S, K, Ca, Ti, Ni, Zn, As were significantly, different in the rainy season compare to that in the dry season. For coarse particulates (PM10-2,5) elements that show differences between the rainy and the dry seasons we Al, Si, S, K, Ca, V, Ni, Cu, As, Cl. The difference in average concentrations found were likely caused by wet deposition of rain water. text
