Today, the number of extinct animals in Indonesia has risen annually, including the Javan Rhinoceros. Its population has now decreased to 62 Rhinoceros, and now are migrated and conserved in Ujung Kulon. This project seeks to raise this phenomenon by exploring the image of the Javan Rhino as the main inspiration for the work, it also aims to explore countless possibilities to develop the application of surface textile techniques especially on screen printing and fabric manipulation for ready to wear fashion products. Screen Printing is the process of producing images where a mesh is used to transfer ink onto a substrate, except in areas made impermeable to the ink by a blocking stencil. Fabric manipulation is a technique used to create new dimension to the fabric by sewing, pleating, and many more. This project explores various screen printing and fabric manipulation techniques to achieve varied results with the aesthetic qualities that represents the image of Javan Rhinos in ready to wear clothing. text
