RESISTANCE STATUS OF AEDES AEGYPTI LARVAE TO TEMEHOS AND ADULT AEDES AEGYPTI TO 0,75% PERMETHRIN FROM COBLONG, LENGKONG, BUAH BATU, AND VCRU

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an infectious disease caused by dengue virus (Flaviridae family) which is transmitted by the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquito. To this day no vaccine or anti-virus has been found to treat DHF. Therefore the way to overcome the disease is by vectors con...

To this day no vaccine or anti-virus has been found to treat DHF. Therefore the way to overcome the disease is by vectors control. The control that is carried out in Indonesia is by Nest Mosquito Eradicating and by using insecticide. However the use of insecticides in Indonesia needs to be evaluated because of reports of insecticide resistant in several regions in Indonesia. The finding that Ae. aegypti has been resistant to permethrin and deltamethrin in several region in Java Island. This research aims to determine resistant status of Ae. aegypti were collected from four districts in Bandung City i.e. Coblong, Lengkong, Buah Batu which known as the endemic area of DHF and using VCRU as reference strain. Insecticide used in this study were temephos and 0,75% permethrin. Resistant status assay were conducted to WHO standard method. To determine resistant status of Ae. aegypti larvae were using 20-25 3rd or 4th instar larvae by using 5 concentrations. Mortality calculation is measured after 24 hours. To determine resistant status of adult Ae. aegypti were using Insecticide Impreagnated Paper containing 0.75% permethrin. Four replicates of 20-25 mosquitos observed in an hour. After an hour, the mosquitos were moved to holding tube and mortality calculation is measured after 24 hours. Bioassay data were analyzed using Probit to determine Lethal Concentration (LC50) and Resistant Ratio (RR50). The result (RR50)from Ae. aegypti larvae collected from Coblong, Lengkong, and Buah Batu were 1,38, 1,05, and 1,16 as compare to VCRU, respectively. Mortality of adult Ae. aegypti collected from Coblong, Lengkong, and Buah Batua to 0.75% permethrin were 44,74%, 57,50%, and 46,25% and RR50 from each strain were 1,04, 1,19, dan 1,16, respectively. The result of this research were Ae. aegypti larvae and adult Ae. aegypti have been resistant to temephos and 0,75% permethrin. text
