STUDY OF SUPPLY CHAIN STRUCTURES AND CONDUCT OF SUPPLY CHAIN COMMODITIES PARTIES FOR ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT ON SMALL SIZED CONTRACTORS IN GREATER BANDUNG AREA

Purchasing material is one of the major expenses from a company. About 60-80% of the work in construction project is for purchasing materials and services from suppliers and subcontractors. Small contractors in West Java are about 72,79% in total of all contractors. Small contractors are dominating in West Java region. A big difference in numbers stating that there are competition among small contractors. Small contractors can apply material purchasing strategic and it will help small contractors running their business. In applying this strategy, contractors need to understand the characteristic in every material, who is the most needed supplier and characteristic every supplier in every commodity. The three aspect is described in supply chain and subject’s behaviour in strategic supply chain commodity. Based on research done by Irfanto (2018), strategic commodity for road construction consists of cement, readymix concrete, hotmix, asphalt, steel reinforcement, sand, aggregate, and wood. Method that being used in collecting the data is by interview with questionnaire as a guideline for contractor and supplier in every commodity. The data is being processed by Relative Importance Index (RII) to know the importance level of a factor to a specified variable that connected to supply chain. Then, the result is being analysed with qualitative descriptive and described as supply chain structure and the behavior of the supply chain parties. Based on research, supply chain structure for sand material have 4 material distribution channel, 1 channel for hotmix asphalt material, 2 channel for steel reinforcement, 4 channel for sand material, 4 channel for aggregate, 2 channel for wood material. Supply chain parties behavior have a different kind of characteristic. This is influenced by financial ability, information and level of interest of every parties involved in the commodity.
