Description
Summary:Moringa (Moringa oleifera Lamk.) is a plant of Moringaceae family which is bioactive compounds like flavonoids that serve as antioxidant. Antioxidant can netralize free radicals by give one or more electrons and prevent of normal cell, protein and fat breaking by free radicals. The purpose of this research, the antioxidant activity of moringa leaves extract from three different regions (Bandung, Bogor and Malang city). Testing of antioxidant activity done by using DPPH (2,2-Diphenyl-1- picrylhydrazyl) method. The simplisia of moringa leaves extracted by reflux method with 3 increasing polarity solvent, n-hexane, ethyl acetate and ethanol. The simplisia from three regions were screened and showed positive of flavonoids, phenol (tannin), and steroid/triterpenoids. Testing antioxidant activity of n-hexane, ethyl acetate and ethanol extract from three regions done by using quantitative method. This method were using microplate reader at wavelength 515 nm with ascorbic acid as standard. The result showed that the lowest IC50value showed by ethanol extract of moringa (6,40±1,39?g/mL) from Malang, and lowest ascorbic acid had 3,71±0,52?g/mL. Ethanol extract of moringa from Malang was classified as strong because it was below than 50?g/mL.
