Description
Summary:Electricity demand rises as human population grows. Meanwhile, world fossil fuel supply keeps decreasing. The world needs another resource to generate electricity. Biomass is an excellent alternative to replace fossil fuel, whereas biomasses are substances from any organism. These biomasses are processed before utilized as fuels on a biomass power plant. Indonesia is an agrarian nation, so biomass resources are very abundant. Therefore, in this research, the writer is going to study biomass utilization in the form of rice husk to create a biomass power plant with Organic Rankine Cycle. Organic Rankine Cycle is a Rankine Cycle with lower heating value due to weaker heat generated from biomass fuels. Therefore, this cycle generally needs different working fluid which has lower boiling point than water. In this research, the writer will compare some biomass power plant schemes, to determine which configuration that is most economically profitable, in hope that this study may help Indonesia to be more dependent from fossil fuel usage, whilst turning organic waste to energy and harness them as electricity
