INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/46847 Problems in rural areas are not only related to low income but also limited access to various resources and basic services, such as access to electricity. In Indonesia, there are 4.65% of households that do not have access to electricity. The provision of electricity access has come to the attention of the national government and globally through SDG's related to renewable energy. Some research has been conducted but is still focused on technical assistance. Communities are still rarely involved in the provision of electricity, especially in rural areas. The self-help approach is offered, which emphasizes the capacity and assets of the community itself in solving problems related to electricity. The purpose of this research is to understand how the provision of electricity access can be done by utilizing community capacity through the implementation of community-based development so that it can benefit the rural community. The research approach is a mixed-method with a parallel convergent research design. The study was conducted in Cisoka, Sumedang Regency with 19 respondents and 11 informants. Based on the research results, the existing capacity has been able to help the community overcome the lack of access and provide electricity independently. The most important capacity in providing electricity utilization in rural areas is a sense of community, agency of individu and access to resources. Now, electricity has not provided direct household income because of limited electric power. Existing electricity has provided benefits related to appliance ownership, longer and varied community activities, and interactions that strengthen social connections. text
