Description
Summary:The Indonesian sea holds many benefits as a new and better area to support the nation's economy. Recently, the development of Patimban Port is being developed as a new container port to support the capacity needs of the container port sector. Patimban Harbor is located in soft alluvial clay. Soil conditions from these properties can cause serious problems in soils which are the foundation of port infrastructure due to low shear strength and high compressibility and this can interfere with the performance and function of the supported structures. Soil improvement was carried out at the Patimban Port Development project, using a new method, namely the cement deep mixing method that is more efficient and environmentally friendly. The cement deep mixing method uses the basic ingredients of cement mixed with soft soil by mixing treatment equipment to improve the weak engineering properties of the soil, providing adequate stability and carrying capacity. Investigation and improvisation of the soil carried out as well as experiments carried out in the laboratory and the method of carrying out the construction of Cement Deep Mixing refer to ASTM D1586, (2018), "Standard Test Method for Standard Penetration Test (SPT) and Split-Barrel Sampling of Soils", ASTM D2166, (2016), "Standard Test Method for Unconfined Compression Strength of Cohesive Soils" and Kitazume, M & Terashi, M, (2013). "The Deep Mixing Method".
