Summary: | This study aims to assess the tsunami hazard in Palu due to the future tsunamigenic event from
the Pasigala source region in terms of near-shore and far-field tsunami runup, inundation
height and tsunami arrival time along the coastal of Palu. High-resolution topographic and
bathymetry datasets were assimilated to achieve more accurate result in smaller grid domain
size. Numerical model used Delft3D as known for one of the numerical tools for simulation
tsunami throughout the world by previous researcher. Four scenarios were conducted which
consists of tsunamigenic earthquake which generate by using Okada Formulation and aerial
subsidence as an approach for mimicking hypothetical potential landslide and empirical
equation by Murty as supplementary for determine the initial water level based on its volume.
The outcome from simulation such as inundation height each grid points then calculated with
building footprint stored data – derivation data from the terrain model to develop tsunami
hazard map. Tsunami Hazard Map made to classify tsunami hazard level by existing
classification added with estimated building impacted and arrival time ashore on each village
in Palu City administrative region.
