The goal is prevent the effluent produced from the treatment from polluting the environment and can be reused as water curtain. The PBT unit uses bacteria as a degrader which is originated from five seed tanks containing five dominant bacteria. The aimsof this study was to determine the dynamics of active microbe population in industrial wastewater treatment (case study: metal painting industry) that can evaluate the performance of wastewater treatment with activated sludge system routinely, quickly and accurately. This research was conducted by identifying the bacteria using molecular biological techniques of 16S rRNA gene sequencing analysis with polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and determining the abundance of microbial consortium with FISH technique and analyzing at the relationship between the dynamics of active microbe in wastewater treatment with physico-chemical characteristic measured of the sludge.. The results showed that physico-chemical parameters in the form of temperature, pH, DO, conductivity, total COD, dissolved COD, total phosphate, orthophosphate, total nitrogen, MLVSS, Zn and Ni metals based on sampling time variations showed fluctuating values. The bacteria observed were dominated by Gram-negative bacteria and alpha-Proteobacteria (ALF968) group of 43,7%. The existence of bioindicators on their habitat, namely PBT PT. X units using PCA analysis and multiple linear regression shows that, MLVSS affects to Alphaproteobacteria, Actinobacteria, then orthophosphates, Zn metals, DO, total nitrogen and Ni metal affects to Betaproteobacteria groups, Gammaprteobacteria and Firmicutes, and total COD concentrations have an effect on groups of phototropic bacteria. text
