With an average total production of about 765.000 barrels of crude oil per day in 1997, CPI plays an important role in oil industry in Indonesia. Its production of al-most half of Indonesia\'s total crude oil production has become the biggest contributor to the country\'s income from the oil dan gas sector.<p align=\"justify\"> <br /> In the changing world of dynamic business environment which requires high degree of competitiveness, it is CPI\'s commitment to sustain its position as a premier operating unit. In line with the changes that are occuring in business enviroment, CPI has undergone many changes as part of its efforts to en-sure survival in this environment where challenges being faced will become more complex in this era of globalization. In a dynamic business environment, we will need a high degree of adaptability and a process to continuously adapt to sustain the life of our business. With such a frame of thinking, business doers that will be needed most are resourceful humans who also have trans-formational leadership skill.<p align=\"justify\"> <br /> Achieving the realization of transformational leadership will require uncoupling from the frame of thinking and of work that are based on human re-source paradigme which is always used in human resource management concepts. Management style with orientation towards processes and adaptability skills needs to be based on a new paradigme, which is resourceful human paradigme, used extensively in people management concept, in which employees are no longer treated merely as one valuable resource (that is human resource) of many production resources, but they are considered more as members of the business entity, as a resourceful human.<p align=\"justify\"> <br /> The topic of this magister thesis is about evaluating some aspects in management system of people development in CPI in relation with its change effort towards tansformational leadership. The analysis in this magister thesis is focused on excavating essences of some practices in people development management being implemented by CPI and comparing them with the characteristics of people development management that is required for a change towards transformational leadership. Three aspects that are evaluated cover training aspect, performance evaluation aspect, and recognition aspect. Therefore, people development management practices in CPI that will be evaluated are those of employee training/development system, employee performance evaluation and ranking system, and employee recognition and award system. <br /> text
