A catchment plays important role in controlling flood and drought during dry season. The wetlands riparian area of Tambak Bayan River is a part of a catchment. This area serves as a buffer for river ecosystem and has important ecological function, thus the area has to be preserved. Based on Depok District RDTR regulations, the wetlands riparian area of Tambak Bayan River serves as wetlands agriculture, whereas the local communities currently use it as freshwater fish farming. The current utilization of the area adding economic value for surrounding communities. This encounter between ecological and economic interest requires design intervention aiming to preserve the function of the area as water and soil conservation area, and also to improve the value of farm production by agriculture intensification using the Recirculation Aquaculture System (RAS). Recirculation Aquaculture System (RAS) has several benefits, one of which is the reduction in clean water usage because used pond water undergoes a filtration process and can be reused. Other benefit is it needs less space than the traditional fish farming method, still delivers bigger value in term of production. Therefore, the unused space can be fully utilized as water and soil conservation area, and also generate new function as recreation area for upgrading social and economic value of surrounding communities so that the sustainability and existence of the wetlands riparian area of Tambak Bayan River is well preserved. text
