SCENARIO PLANNING DEVELOPMENT FOR ONLINE TRANSPORTATION COMPANY IN JAKARTA

Online transportation companies have become an integral part of society. Their services increase the productivity of citizens from various backgrounds. However, as a growing industry there are a lot of uncertainties that could affect the future of online transportation companies. Government regulations, economic factors, technology factors are few of the many factors that could affect online transportation growth. This thesis focuses on identifying the possible scenarios for online transportation companies in the next 5 years. This thesis will also be covering the underlying implications and available options. The method used in this research is scenario planning analysis. In this method, driving forces would be identified by conducting interview towards expert and stakeholder in online transportation companies. Two driving forces that has the most impact and uncertainties will be selected as key uncertainties. These two key uncertainties will be the axis for creating 4 different scenarios which represent the interaction between two axes with polar cases at each extremity. Government regulation and technology factors are the key uncertainties identified in this research. There are 4 scenarios created from these key uncertainties, which are 4.0 Society, Social Conventional Society, Rigid Society, and Individually Modern Society. Implications and options are created based on each scenario. Maintaining relationships with mass public transportation authorities, proposing a joint project with public transportation stakeholders are a few recommendations given after further analysis.
