Summary: | Dago Bengkok municipal solid waste treatment plant is a waste treatment facility which was built based on Citarum Harum, a program established by Indonesia government. This municipal soild waste treatment plant construction has just finished recently so its operation has not been started as well. Dago Bengkok municipal solid waste treatment plant is planned to serve all the wastes generated in Ciumbuleuit for 10 years (until 2030). Waste generation, compositions, and characteristics of Ciumbuleuit was identified to determine the technologies and facilities needed in Dago Bengkok municipal solid waste treatment plant. The sampling result showed that the majority waste composition is food scraps (49,32%), followed by other wastes (14,15%), plastics (13,56%), and papers (11,27%). Those wastes will be sorted in Dago Bengkok municipal solid waste treatment plant. Based on the evaluation of each proposed alternatives, the waste sorting activity will be done manually by workers with the help of conveyor belt. Organic wastes will be composed, while anorganic wastes which have economic value will be stored and sent to waste banks later. Food scraps generated in Ciumbuleuit contains high moisture content and organic carbon (73,62% and 78%) which makes it necessary for them to be dried and mixed with amendments, which are poultry manure and wood chips, before entering composting process. The selected composting technology is aerated static pile with thermal-based aeration system with the help of a programmed thermocouple and blower. Anorganic wastes which have economic value will be treated according to their characteristic, such as shredding for plastics and bale formation for papers. Other anorganic wastes like glasses and metals will be stored immediately after waste sorting process. At 2030, estimated daily residues generated from Dago Bengkok municipal solid waste treatment plant will be 14,3 m3, which will be transported to Sarimukti landfill.
