Public open space needs to be built so that it can be accessed effectively by all citizens of the city. An inclusive public open space is a place that can be easily accessed by everyone, especially women, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. In 2014, the Bandung City Government began developing the thematic park concept in several locations and revitalizing several parks and squares. The development of the thematic park changes the facilities provided so it is indicated to change the characteristics of park visitors and their activities. The problem of this research is how to estimate the level of inclusiveness of public space, and and what are the strategies for increasing inclusiveness. This research approach is quantitative by conducting a primary survey to determine the level of inclusiveness of public open space based on physical conditions and perceptions according to respondents in four public spaces namely Bandung City Square, Ujung Berung Square, Film Park and Super Hero Park. In this study identified indicators of inclusiveness as well as the level of inclusiveness of public open space in the city of Bandung. The level of inclusiveness is measured based on an assessment of indicators of physical access, social access, activity access, and visitor characteristics. The results of the measurement of the level of inclusiveness that is explained through the characteristics of visitors, physical access, social access, and access to activities show that the inclusiveness of thematic parks tends to be lower than the squares. Thematic parks have the potential for more frequent visitors to the park, as well as more social and community activities than the square. The strategies are grouped into increasing physical access, social access, and access to activities. Improved physical access is carried out by providing wheelchair access, access doors, lighting at night, access to public transportation, providing parking facilities. Improved social access by implementing inclusive designs, providing routine activities in thematic parks. Increased access to activities by increasing comfort for group activities, giving incentives to communities who areiv active in the park, supporting a variety of activities and providing economic activity space. text |

Building functional, productive and inclusive public spaces is an important
challenge for urban areas. Public open space needs to be built so that it can be
accessed effectively by all citizens of the city. An inclusive public open space is a
place that can be easily accessed by everyone, especially women, children, the
elderly, and people with disabilities. In 2014, the Bandung City Government began
developing the thematic park concept in several locations and revitalizing several
parks and squares. The development of the thematic park changes the facilities
provided so it is indicated to change the characteristics of park visitors and their
activities. The problem of this research is how to estimate the level of inclusiveness
of public space, and and what are the strategies for increasing inclusiveness.
This research approach is quantitative by conducting a primary survey to determine
the level of inclusiveness of public open space based on physical conditions and
perceptions according to respondents in four public spaces namely Bandung City
Square, Ujung Berung Square, Film Park and Super Hero Park. In this study
identified indicators of inclusiveness as well as the level of inclusiveness of public
open space in the city of Bandung. The level of inclusiveness is measured based on
an assessment of indicators of physical access, social access, activity access, and
visitor characteristics. The results of the measurement of the level of inclusiveness
that is explained through the characteristics of visitors, physical access, social
access, and access to activities show that the inclusiveness of thematic parks tends
to be lower than the squares. Thematic parks have the potential for more frequent
visitors to the park, as well as more social and community activities than the square.
The strategies are grouped into increasing physical access, social access, and access
to activities. Improved physical access is carried out by providing wheelchair
access, access doors, lighting at night, access to public transportation, providing
parking facilities. Improved social access by implementing inclusive designs,
providing routine activities in thematic parks. Increased access to activities by
increasing comfort for group activities, giving incentives to communities who areiv
active in the park, supporting a variety of activities and providing economic activity
space. |
