EVALUATION OF VIGILANCE AND PHYSIOLOGICAL WORKLOAD ON INDONESIAN NATIONAL ARMED FORCE TANK AMX-13 DRIVER: STUDY AT BATALION ARTILERI MEDAN 4/105 GS CIMAHI

Batalion Artileri Medan (Yonarmed) 4/10 GS is a combat unit that have responsibility to move tanks and provide shot to penetrate enemy’s territory. When drive the tank, tank driver must always be aware on surrounding so as not to endanger others. Besides, drive the heavy tank is so hard and make cer...

When drive the tank, tank driver must always be aware on surrounding so as not to endanger others. Besides, drive the heavy tank is so hard and make certain workload to the drivers. This research conducted to evaluate vigilance level and physiological workload on the tank drivers. This research use 15 tank drivers in Yonarmed 4 as subjects and performed in Uji Siap Tempur (UST) event. To evaluate vigilance level, used 5-minutes psychomotor vigilance task (PVT), that record driver’s reaction time to the visual stimulus. While the physiological workload evaluated based on heart rate, stress level, and oxygen saturation. PVT data can show that there are decrement 7% in driver vigilance between baseline and before driving state, that marked by significant differences on parameters mean and 10%Fastest. Vigilance decrement also detected between before and after driving state, that marked by increase in reaction time variability. Decrement on physiological condition detected based on heart rate and stress level. It show that stress level increase to 18% and heart rate increase to 102 bpm in after driving. While oxygen saturation not significant differences between states. The result reflect that fatigue was appeared to the tank driver and workload level can be categorized to high. text
