Description
Summary:Tourism has become the main focus of Indonesian government to boost this country's economic growth. In their effort to expand tourism business, the government intensively develops ten major travel destinations. One of them is Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara. This place is made to be a priority for the existence of Komodo National Park located in its area. Komodo National Park is a renown park that is internationally acknowledged by UNESCO. Furthermore, its location is strategic enough to represent the tourism of East Nusa Tenggara. Designing a tourism hub is a form of response to Labuan Bajo's role as the center of tourisms in East Nusa Tenggara. The main purpose of this design is to provide information and other needs for tourists to have the best experience they can possibly get in Labuan Bajo and East Nusa Tenggara as a whole. The design takes various aspects such as function, image, and the impacts to the surrounding communities and environments into consideration. The final design solves the problems that emerge in the process of designing by applying the principle of ecotourism designs which is a responsible tourism, both towards the surrounding communities and environments. Moreover, issues regarding functions and images brought by this facility are answered by accomodating the functions needed for enhancing travel experience and creating building shapes and appereances that reflect the local architecture.
