Summary: | Moringa oleifera is a plant that widely known have many vitamins, minerals, and polyphenol compounds that acts as an antioxidant and antimicrobial. Research about endophytic bacteria on M. oleifera mostly focused on their potential as an antimicrobial. The aim of this study is to isolate, selection, and identify endophytic bacteria on M. oleifera for their potential as plant growth promoting bacteria (PGPB). Endophytic bacteria isolated from roots and stems, then non-pathogenic bacteria selected based on hypersensitivity response test and hemolysis activity test. After that, endophytic bacteria tested for their ability to solubilizing phosphate, nitrogen fixation, indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) production, celullolytic and amylolytic activity. Bacteria that have best activity will be identified by 16S rRNA. The result shows there are 11 isolates from roots and stems, all of them shows negative result to hypersensitivity response test, but there are 4 isolates (A1, A2, A4, A5) that shows hemolysis activities. From 7 isolate, there are 2 isolates (A3, B2) that can solubilizing phosphate, 3 isolates (A6, B1, B4) can fixing nitrogen, 3 isolates (B1, B2, B3) shows amylolytic activities, 2 isolates (AB1, B1) shows celullolytic activities. IAA production test shows B1 produce the highest concentration of IAA 29,95 ppm. Identification with 16S rRNA shows that B1 predicted as Curtobacterium herbarum strain CA18. Conclusion of this study is endophytic bacteria found in M. oleifera predicted as C. herbarum strain CA18 that can promote plant growth because it has ability to fixing nitrogen, producing IAA, shows amylolytic and celullolytic activity. |
