Summary: | The tourism sector is one of the most advanced sectors of the national economy. There
are lot of tourism potential, from natural tourism, rural tourism, to urban tourism in
Indonesia. Bandung City is one of the major cities in Indonesia which has the potential
as Urban Tourism. In its management, the City of Bandung has RIPPARDA which
organizes tourism potentials such as: attractions, amenities, supporting
infrastructure, and its accessibility. However, there are still problems such as the
conversion of agricultural and forest land, traffic jams, confusing image of tourism,
lack of coordination berween stakeholders, and the lack of community empowerment.
These sustainability problems are a new threats for Bandung Urban Tourism. This
study aims to evaluate the policy of Bandung Tourism in an effort to achieve
sustainable Urban Bandung Tourism. It uses stakeholder analysis to identify
influential actors, discourse analysis to explore the understanding and motivation of
the actors involved, as well as gap analysis in the RIPPARDA document on the
achievement of Sustainable Urban Tourism. Dinas Pariwisata dan Kebudayaan Kota
Bandung is found as an actor who has a big influence in the formulation and directing
of existing Urban Tourism policies. In addition, policy makers need to find an
understanding of the form of urban tourism destinations that will be built by balancing
the competitiveness and sustainability aspects of urban tourism. RIPPARDA as a
tourism development planning document, has a lack in the aspects of monitoring and
evaluating its implementation. The existence of paradox within urban tourism study,
on its similarity with the city itself, brings us to the fact that there are similarities
within the planning of urban tourism and the urban planning of the city itself.
Therefore, the optimalized the development of urban tourism potentials of Bandung
city is to makesure the development and planning of the city can balance the
competitiveness and its sustainability |
