Description
Summary:The design of a low head water turbine fits the conditions of the Indonesian rivers, where rivers have a low head. In the turbine design phase, knowledge about turbine performance parameters is needed to determine the performance of the turbine that has been designed. To know these parameters, turbine performance testing is required by using measurement tools. In this final project, the author wants to know the characteristics of turbine power, maximum efficiency, and effective head of axial flow turbines. The author will determine the measurement device and test the performance of the turbine. The author also made a measurement system to test the performance of ultra low head turbines using measurement techniques on the PAU ITB experimental channel. From the test results obtained a maximum turbine power of 259 W, with a maximum efficiency of 79%. The results were obtained with a flow flow of 133 kg/s with an effective head of 0.25 m. The results of ultra low head turbine performance testing that did not achieve design performance were due to several factors explained in this undergraduate assignment.
