The allocation and an available irrigation water distribution are considered globally from several factors in response to be fundamental such as water requirements to plants, the use of effective rainfall, the use of groundwater by using safety discharge optimally. <br /> <p align=\"justify\">The researchs are purposed to find out the potential groundwater resources in the DPS Krikilan, irrigation water requirements, and to determine the alternative cropping pattern optimally. The research was carried out in Kecamatan Kalijambe, Kabupaten Sragen, and Kecamatan Nogosari, Kabupaten Boyolali, during March to September 1996. The research methodologies were conducted by performing secondary data analysis (climatology, hydrogeology, plantations), laboratory analysis (soil texture) and field observations (percolation). <br /> <p align=\"justify\">The analysis shows that the soil water storage (dS) in the DPS Krikilan is 0 - 125,25 mm/month or 0 - 283.854,67 m<sup>3</suP>/day for area of 68 km<sup>2</sup>. By using the Darcy\'s methode, it is known that the potential of groundwater resource for area of 68 km2 is 35.195,86 m<sup>3</sup>/day, and if water can exploited by simultaneous pumping around 11,245 m<sup>3</sup>/day. <br /> <p align=\"justify\">The rice plant is planted from September to March. The minimum water requirement for it (padi) is 1,101/sec/ha in February and the maximum is 2,09 1/sec/ha in Oktober. By assuming that palawija is planted from January to Desember, is maximum water requirements is 0,95, 0,81, 0,98 1/sec/ha for soybean, pea nut, maize, \'respectively in August. The maximum water requirement for chilly (cabe) is 0,79 I/sec/ha. <br /> <p align=\"justify\">The cropping pattern is determined by the maximum profit with constrain for area and continuous water supply. The chosens cropping pattern which are based on the hightest profit in a year are padi and palawija (CS I), padi and palawija (CS II), palawija (CS III), or padi and palawija (CS I), cabe (CS II), where are planted in January. <br /> <p align=\"justify\">Up to now the groundwater exploitation in the DPS Krikilan is still being conducted so the groundwater condition should be monitored. The exploitation of groundwater must be upgraded by agriculture research for hight value cropps. text
