Description
Summary:Increasingly high and uncontrolled population growth is a problem in urban areas. With a population that is increasing rapidly resulting that the city is no longer able to accommodate with proper conditions, so that it will make some residents will prefer to live in the suburbs. This also happened in Palembang City. This suburbanization will result in increased use of private vehicles. Increased use of private vehicles will have an impact on congestion resulting from increased movement and activities of residents from or towards the city center. For this reason, other transportation alternatives are needed to reduce congestion. With the development of LRT as a mass transportation mode, this can make LRT as one of the potentials in the development of transportation systems in Palembang city. Beside that, the LRT is also expected to reduce the use of private vehicles and reduce congestion. However, the use of LRT as a mode of public transportation in Palembang is still low, so it is necessary to increase the use of LRT. To increase the use of LRT in Palembang, is needed an effort so that LRT can be used efficiently. One of them is by applying the TOD concept in the area around the LRT station. Through the integration of the transportation node with land use around the station, this is expected to increase movement or activity in the area around the station. In determining which locations can be developed as TOD areas, it is necessary to do an assessment of the area around the LRT station that meets the TOD area development criteria. Therefore, this study aims to identify which locations at South Sumatra LRT transit points have the potential to be developed into TOD areas. The analytical method used in this research is descriptive analysis, where the descriptive analysis used is descriptive qualitative analysis and quantitative descriptive analysis. This qualitative descriptive analysis is used to see the potential location and problems of TOD development at the LRT transit station. Whereas this quantitative descriptive analysis is used when processing numerically measured data such as land use calculation, measuring distance from / to stations / activity centers / residences / workplaces, calculating the number of residents in the TOD area, calculating population density, and calculating area density. The results showed that 3 stations out of 13 LRT stations have the potential to be developed into TOD areas. The stations are Punti Kayu Station, Bumi Sriwijayaiv Station and Jakabaring Station. Based on the results of TOD typology analysis at this potential location, the Bumi Sriwijaya Station area includes the city TOD typology, and the Punti Kayu Station and Jakabaring Station areas including the environmental TOD typology. To develop each potential point into the TOD area it is necessary to identify the aspects that need to be considered and the components that need to be regulated to overcome the gap between the prerequisites and principles with the problems related to the conditions and support of the current plan.
