Summary: | Every industry needs a production system and equipment that operates with a high
level of reliability. Even so, failure is a natural thing to happen. In essence, the
material only accepts external forces and responses that occur - which are
categorized as failures - are natural. Material failure occurs because of loading.
In general, the nature of the material at the time of loading can be categorized into
resilient or brittle nature. It depends on the ability of the material to undergo plastic
deformation (Dieter, 1998: 9). Adequate ductility is important to consider in
designing an equipment, so that the material will have the opportunity to
redistribute localized loading. The focus of this research is the concept where the
higher the strain rate, the higher the tensile strength of a material. To find out the
truth, a tensile impact test was made. This tool is expected to provide a pull load
quickly. The process of designing, manufacturing to the analysis of test results is
carried out in this study with the hope that it can help as a reference in the field of
mechanical metallurgy.
