Summary: | Three-phase induction motor is a type of electric motor that is commonly used in electrical devices in both industry and domestic. The simple but robust constrtuction is the reason why the three phase induction motor is so popular. In use, three-phase induction motors have limitations, one of which is that induction motors are unable to operate independently at changing speeds. Therefore we need a speed controller to regulate the speed of the three phase induction motor.
There are several ways to control the speed of a three-phase induction motor, one of which is to regulate the voltage entering the stator terminal. Stator voltage regulation is classified into two categories, namely the vector control and scalar control methods. Scalar control or v / f control is a method in which the speed of an induction motor is controlled by regulating the value of the magnitude and frequency of the stator voltage so that it meets the desired profile so that the flux in the motor is maintained in a steady-state state. This research will focus on controlling the speed of three phase induction motors with v / f control or commonly called scalar speed control. Three scalar speed control modulation techniques, namely sinusoid modulation, vector space modulation, and sinusoid plus a quarter of third harmonic modulation will be simulated and compared in different conditions. The modulation technique simulation is done using Matlab Simulink software. |
