Description
Summary:South Sumatra Province is an area with the largest coal potential in Indonesia where in 2015, the number of coal resources in South Sumatra ranked first in Indonesia with a total of 51,901.93 tons (Bappenas, 2019). To transport the coal mining products, coal transportation in South Sumatra generally uses truck trucks before being taken by coal barges to the location of consumers. This has resulted in road damage, congestion, pollution and increasing traffic accidents. In order to optimize the potential of river transportation, so that good transportation of goods can be utilized properly and reduce various problems in the transportation of goods on the highway, it is necessary to integrate the river transportation network with the network of road transportation and rail transportation. Various studies have shown that one of the efforts to overcome the problems in road transportation is to integrate with other types of existing transportation, especially rail and water transportation. This study aims to make a modeling of the cost of coal transportation through trucking, railroad and river transportation by considering various factors that occur in the field to be formulated into a function that can be considered quantitatively in the context of comparing and selecting various efficient coal transportation network routes from the cost aspect. From the simulations that have been carried out, the route using truck-river transportation is the most combination of routes with the highest cost per tonne of load is when using truck transportation to then proceed using a small barge (1,500 tons) through the Lematang River which is a river in the interior and around the mining area with a general cost of Rp. 11,102,102 / ton. The routes using truck - train - river transportation are the cheapest, which is Rp. 8.24.729 / ton. To improve the role of river transportation, various policies are needed, among others, to divert the costs of dredging and elevating the bridge floor across the river to the Government and to divert the costs of construction and road maintenance to coal truck transportation entrepreneurs. This has the potential to reduce general costs (generalized costs) on routes that use river transportation so that they can4 compete and will increase the interest of service users to use routes that use river transportation and railroad transport.
