INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/47332 Cement is a synthetic commodity that is most widely produced and consumed in the world. The growth of the cement industry today requires the cement industry development to make energy saving efforts. One effort that can be done is by evaluating the equilibrium of mass and energy flow in the cement plant. In the calculation process there are some data that are difficult to be obtained from the measurement results, so it needs to be assumed. The purpose of this research is to develop software that can be used to calculate the mass and energy balances in the kiln system as well as the approximation value of the cyclone separation efficiency. Two systems were reviewed, conventional and modern cement plant systems. Conventional system configuration consist of preheaters SP type, rotary kiln, and planetary cooler, while in modern system configuration, preheaters SLC-S type, rotary kiln, and grate cooler were used. The activities taken in this study were identifying the mass and energy flow in each system, deriving equations and calculations as well as developing software codes. This software can be used to estimate the separation efficiency of cyclone preheaters using least squares method due to overdetermined equations system. Using operational temperatures data of gas and material flows, the results of the software calculation program were able to represent the mass and energy balances in each equipment both in the conventional and modern cement plants, in which the separation efficiency values for each cycclone was obtained around 80%. text |
