The fighter is designed to fly at cruising speed Mach of 1.3. The has been defined at preliminary design phase, including wing component design. An optimization process was performed in this research to redesign the existing wing geometry to produce a more optimum wing design. The optimization method were used to optimize the optimum wing geometry with some geometry parameters, such as aspect ratio, taper ratio, leading edge swept angles and dihedral. The method of optimization used in this research is the combination of genetic algorithm and least square method. To obtain aerodynamic characteristics of the wing, the computational approach was carried out using the Gambit (modeling) and ANSYS Fluent (analysis) software. Results of the configuration, flow behaviour and aerodynamic characteristics of the wing are solved using the solution of RANS equations with k-? turbulent models. This study results, wing configuration that is more optimum than the basic wing X obtained onfiguration with aerodynamic characteristic which were more optimum than basic wing X. The results shows thet reduction of drag coeffcient of 10% and aerodynamics effficiency of 8%. text
