To improve resistance to cracks, its toughness can be increased by giving several heat treatment. In this study, 3 types of two-stage heat treatment will be done in variation of first-stage temperature 600oC, 620oC, and 640oC for 3 hours, then continued with stage two on temperature 1000oC for 1,5 hours, then continued with water quench. In the first stage, carbide is starting to transform into spherical shape and started to dissociate inside the austenite grain, pearlite also started to form due to step by step growth of ferrite nucleus and cementite nucleus with laterral movement. In stage two, pearlite in the form of lamellar will turn into fine grain austenite with fine carbide colonies called dispersed hardened austenite. text
