SECONDARY METABOLITES FROM THE STEM BARK EXTRACT OF KACANG BABI (TEPHROSIA VOGELII)

Tephrosia vogelii , or used to be called as Kacang Babi, is a member of Family Fabaceae. Most metabolites of Tephrosia are flavonoids and rotenoids. Tephrosia has some advantageous bioactivities, these are antifungal, larvicidal, antioxidant, antifeedant, antiplasmodial, sitotoxicity and cancer chem...

Most metabolites of Tephrosia are flavonoids and rotenoids. Tephrosia has some advantageous bioactivities, these are antifungal, larvicidal, antioxidant, antifeedant, antiplasmodial, sitotoxicity and cancer chemopreventive. This research aim to isolate and characterize the secondary metabolites of stem of Tephrosia vogelii. This research was conducted in some steps: extraction, fractionantion and purification. Extraction used acetone as a solvent. Fractionation is conducted using Vacuum Liquid Chromatography (VLC) technique. The last, purification used Radial Chromatography (RC) technique. After isolation, Characterization of secondary metabolite using 1D and 2D-NMR and identified Deguelin and Tephrosine which have been reported isolated from Tephrosia before. It can conclude that the stem of Tephrosia vogelii contained two derivatives of isoflavonoid, these are Deguelin and Tephrosin. text
