The content of secondary metabolites from Artocarpus glauca Blume had been carried out. This plant is one of species which belong to Artocarpus genus and Moraceae family, which the chemistry of it has not been investigated. From benzene, chloroform, and ethylacetate extracts of the root bark of this plant, had been isolated five flavonoid compounds namely cudraflavone C, catechin, afzelechin, a diprenylflavone compound and a simple flavone compound. The structures of cudraflavone C and catechin were elucidated based on physical and spectroscopic data.<p align=\"justify\"> <br />
The structure of afzelechin was determined by UV and IR spectroscopic techniques and compared with authentic compound, whereas the structures of a diprenylflavone and a simple flavone compounds were still investigating by further spectroscopic analysis. Cudraflavone C is found for the first time in the Artocarpus genus although had been reported previously on Cudrania tricuspidata plant (Moraceae family). |
