Summary: | In the Balinese Çaka calendar system contained aspects of astronomy expressed mathematically and in confidence or belief. The term that connects astronomy with belief in this case is related to local culture, can be called ethnoastronomy. Ethnoastronomy in this study aims to determine and understand the use of astronomy in the local culture. Ethnoastronomy also refers to any form of knowledge culture, social activity or characteristics of a social group or culture that can be recognized by other groups. In accordance with the social or cultural nature, especially in matters of religion (social religious), the Hindu community uses "good days" on every step of their lives. This choice day is called a good day. In Bali, the good day develops into wariga, Determination of adult wariga refers to the authority, pawukon, calendar, sasih and dawuh which are already contained in the Çaka Bali calendar, which uses the reference calculation of the Sun, Moon, star, and Wuku system. In this research, we use an analytical description method, which is exploratory in nature and in obtaining the data using qualitative research. Data is obtained by conducting observations, interviews, and literature studies. There are three activities we use for implementing the determination of good days: agricultural, wedding, and Ngaben. Planting rice occurs when it is sasa gauze or karo, around July to August where the Orion star constellation rises around 2°-45° and the star constellation Pleiades is at an altitude of about 27°-50° from the horizon when observed around 04.00 WITA. Harvesting of rice occurs in sasih kapat around October to November when the Orion constellation is at 83° -45° and the constellations Pleades is at an altitude of 41°-16° from the west when observed at around 04.00 WITA from the horizon. Marriage in Bali it is conducted on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Sunday, Tuesday, and Saturday are avoided because they have "hot" nature, because of their symbols of the Sun, Mars, and Saturn. Ceremony of death or cremation is based on the position of celestial bodies namely the Sun, Moon, and Stars. The most influential constellation is Pleiades, so that when Pleiades does not appear, it is not recommended to perform the Ngaben ceremony. |
