Important to note that there are around 20 million Indonesians located centrally in the province of Banten dan DKI Jakarta threatened by the coastal flooding phenomenon, when a normally dry, low-lying land is flooded by seawater. Therefore, that is really important to build the appropriate sea defense structure to anticipate coastal flooding in threatened areas in the future. One aspect to be considered when constructed a sea defense structure is how effective that structure to prevent overtopping phenomenon to occur. In this research we are going to investigate the overtopping phenomenon using Nonlinear Shallow Water Equation or NSWE. The mathematical model is solved analytically, and then solved numerically using the finite volume on a staggered grid with wet-dry procedure. Sea defense structure that used on this research were having a compounded slope. For validate the result, we compare the numerical result with experiment data, and it shows that the model is accurate enough to be used. Moreover the results of numerical schemes will be compared with empirical solutions and get results that are quite identical. The results of this study are considered capable enough for providing benefits to assist the planning and construction process of a sea defense structure. text
