Description
Summary:Inside today’s industry, especially pharmacy industry, isolation process was known as a part of Analysis, the principle used was compound separation which later could measure the content level of compound individually on the preparation. Xanthorrhizol as the working standard has obtained by Liquid Vacuum Chromatography Method on laboratory scale. Pilot scale optimization has undertaken by adding the number of raw material and absorbent, but the result of isolate product did not increase in quantity compared to laboratory scale. The content level of the isolate has not reached minimal standard of 70%. The chosen model in this research assumed concentration only changes along the column. In that column there are events of mass transfer and adsorption. The concentration of Xanthorrhizol was assumed to be the same throughout the column. The only one that changed was the impurity. This research aimed to understand the variable affecting the content level and the quantity inside the Xanthorrhizol isolation process by chromatography column method from thick extract of Curcuma Xanthorrhiza with CaO as the adsorbent, so that it could be made a measurement of scale up process from the slurry adsorption model and the data in the field.
