The formulation of the analytical problem about stress wave propagation need the initial conditions and the boundary conditions. The methode of characteristics will be used to solve the system of equations together with the initial and the boundary conditions. <br /> <p align=\"justify\"> The basic phenomenon about strain or stress propagation can be showed on the simple case, i.e a cylindrical bar which the end is fixed and the other is subjected to impact loading. Because of this impact loading, a compressive strain or stress wave propagates along the bar at wave velocity. As with all waves, propagation, reflection, difraction, and interference also occur <br /> <p align=\"justify\"> This thesis will investigate the strain or stess wave propagation through numerical methode to find the response and the phonemenon if the material subjected to impact loading by strain-time history. The material which is used for the analysis is Malvern\'s strain rate dependent, work hardening material, in finite and semi-infinite cylindrical bar. text |
