One of the most important parts of a fighter aircraft is the fuel tank, because if the target hits the fuel, the aircraft can explode at time or run out of fuel due to leaking. Therefore, in this final project, the study of the inner layer which will cover the hole in the fuel tank is examined if bullet enters and penetrates the tank. Natural rubber based compound is made by varying the carbon black phr, respectively 40, 50, and 60 phr. The compound is tested using rheometer to determine the vulcanization time and temperature. Based on the results, the rubber compound was vulcanized at 150 ?. Vulcanized and non-vulcanized compounds are then immersed in kerosene according to the Gunfire Test specifications. Swelling volume is then analyzed by correlating variations of the carbon black phr in this study as a variable. The results of this study found out that the unvulcanized compounds decreased its swelling ability with increasing carbon black phrases, and in vulcanized compounds there was an increase in swelling ability with increasing carbon black phrases. Due to Covid-19 condition, the sealing speed testing planned of the rubber compound was not possible. Through this research, it is hoped that Indonesia's ideals to become an independent country, especially in the defense industry, can be realized immediately. text |
