Description
Summary:Floods that often inundate the downstream area of the Cikapundung River during the rainy season have occured since hundreds of years ago. The downstream area of the Cikapundung River covers three different subdistricts, namely Dayeuhkolot District, Bojongsoang District and Baleendah District. These areas have a long historical value, especially the City of Dayeuhkolot which was originally the center of government and the economy of the Bandung Regency was later moved due to flooding in 1820 to the Bandung City square area by the governor of the Dutch East Indies. Therefore, the purpose of designing landscape architecture in the downstream area of Cikapundung River is to contribute to reducing the volume of floods that enter the design area. The supporting data in the design process was obtained from various sources, i.e. direct surveys to the field, sources of scientific reading and from relevant government agencies. The design applied to this landscape architecture are retention ponds and rain gardens with a capacity of around 707.000 m3 which can contribute to reducing the volume of floods by around 10%. This design is expected to give solution in reducing the volume of flooding in disaster-prone areas.
