This Vehicle Tracking System consists of two subsystems, i.e., the vehicle which is provided with GPS receiver and the observer station which functions as data base and position displayer on a map. <br />
<p align=\"justify\"> <br />
The GDC (GPS Data Converter) software developed in this thesis is an initial prototype which will be used in a vehicle subsystem. GDC has capability to convert GPS (Global Positioning System) data, encrypt the data using DES (Data Encryption Standard) method, and transfer the data through an RS232 serial communication. <br />
<p align=\"justify\"> <br />
GDC software receives input data from GPS receiver through a port. This data is then processed via data selection and converted into a new data format. This new format is subsequently encrypted and saved. When the data storage is full, the encrypted and saved data is transferred through port to another computer. <br />
<p align=\"justify\"> <br />
Using two personal computers, GPS receiver, and two serial cables, the GDC software can demonstrate GPS data reading, data processing and data transferring between two PC\'s. |
