Summary: | A new simplified multiphase DC-DC buck converter is proposed in this study. This converter has the ability of high-reduction voltage ratio and minimum output current ripple. Compared to conventional buck N-phase M-cascade, the proposed converter requires lesser number of components. An optimization process to determine the number of cascades and the optimal number of phases for a particular application is also presented. Efficiency analysis that are useful in converter design are explained. Simulation results are used to evaluate the basic performance of the proposed converter.
