Description
Summary:Selayar Archipelago Regency is the only one territory that separated from the mainland of Sulawesi and consists of a group of islands to form an archipelago. Fulfillment of community needs and government interests in this district are very dependent on the water sector, especially sea transportation, which has been realized with the existence of the Selayar Fort Port as a collecting port. However, the physical condition of this port has been damaged in several parts, especially in the berth. Therefore, it is necessary to develop port facilities that are able to increase port operational activities as a form of water sector utilization in the Selayar Islands Regency. This Final Project will explain the design of a deck on pile berth structure (open type structure) which is supported to assist loading and unloading activities of general cargo in Port of Benteng Selayar. The berth design consists of two main structural components, they are a wharf structure and a trestle structure. The initial stage in designing the berth structure is collecting of environmental and berth operational data. It is carried out to obtain design figures as the basis for preliminary design of the berth to carry the loads that work on it, due to environmental influences at sea or operations activities at the port. The berth dimensions and the berth structural elements from preliminary design are used to determine the reliability analysis of the planned structure’s modeling in SAP 2000. The results of the modeling are Unity Check Ratio (UCR), structure deflection, internal force of beam and plates, and base reaction. The cargo berth structure is designed to have the UCR value between 0.7 until 1.0 with beams and piles deflection comply the deflection permit limit. The internal force is used as the basis for reinforcing berth structural elements and the base reaction will be used to determine the depth of the berth structure foundation (piling depth). The final results of the Final Project are dimensions of wharf and trestle structures, dimensions of the structural elements of the berth, reinforcement details, and piling depth, which is designed using OCDI (2009) and additional design criteria from the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) and British Standard (BS).
