This project is initiated by UPI to response the issue of degenerative diseases, environmental issues and food issues. The project is located in Bumi Sariwangi 1, Parongpong, West Bandung Regency. This laboratory functions as informal education combined with recreational features. The total area is 2.7 hectares and can accommodate ± 1000 people. The concept of this project is to integrate permaculture and architectural principles. The main design strategies used are to produce no waste, create cycles of energy and water, and using environmentally friendly materials. There are several types of buildings on the site that are categorized by function: 7 types of main buildings, 5 types of supporting buildings and 4 types of complementary buildings. The shape of the buildings are adapted to the micro and macro site’s climate, and also adapted from the shape of the bird's wing in order give dynamic and organic impression. The main building’s material is bamboo with thatched roof, which all of them can be obtained from the site itself. The main structure of the buildings are using stilts structure with 2 floors maximum building height, as the response to earthquake-prone conditions. Furthermore, the stilts structure is also applied in order to prevent reduction of the infiltration area. This site is a part of North Bandung Region, which the construction is restricted. Thus, the minimum permitted green space ratio is 82% and the maximum building coverage ratio is 20%. Overall, this project has fulfilled the permissible total area requirements with the details: total ground floor area is 4,814.5 m2, total building area is 4,036 m2 and total green space area is 22,185.5 m2. text |
