Summary: | Traffic accidents often occur between motorists and pedestrians. Road users who are vulnerable to death are pedestrians. Development of a model for the level of safety of crossings, especially crossings at intersections is needed in Indonesia because until now there is no standard for assessing the level of safety of crossers at the crossing. In this study aims to develop a crossing safety model, especially at the intersection by taking into account the variables that influence the intersection in the city of Bandung.
The intersections locations studied were 12 signalized and non-signaled intersections in Bandung. The arms reviewed are major arms and minor arms. This model was developed following the method of multiple linear regression. The dependent variable used is the safety rating value obtained from the respondent while the independent variable used is the traffic and the physical characteristics of the intersection reviewed.
The results showed that several variables that influence the value of the safety level of crossers at the intersection of Bandung are the total number of lanes, the availability of traffic signals and the dominant type of road area. The more the number of lanes the safety level will decrease because the distance traveled by the pedestrian will be longer and the level of interacting with vehicles is higher. The existence of traffic signals will increase the level of safety of pedestrian because the movement of pedestrian and motorized vehicles is separated by the time of the traffic signal. In contrast to the type of commercial area that will reduce the value of safety, where many shops, offices and factories there are many pedestrian activities or crossings at the intersection. The crossing safety value in Bandung City has a range of values between 1,907 – 3,825. The average crossing safety value at the intersection of Bandung is 2,842 with a standard deviation of 0,543. Safety scores are included in the safety enough category for major and minor arm reviews. |
