STUDY OF STONE COLUMN INTERACTION BEHAVIOUR WITH POTENTIALLY LIQUEFIED SOIL DURING DESIGN EARTHQUAKES (CASE STUDY OF RUNWAY 3 BANDARA SOEKARNO-HATTA AIRPORT)

Structural failure due to the loss of stability of the soil during an earthquake usually occurs in sand soil that is saturated and has a uniform gradation. This event is usually known as failure due to melting sand soil during an earthquake or called liquefaction. Stone column is one method of soil...

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/48066 Structural failure due to the loss of stability of the soil during an earthquake usually occurs in sand soil that is saturated and has a uniform gradation. This event is usually known as failure due to melting sand soil during an earthquake or called liquefaction. Stone column is one method of soil improvement for layering soils with potentially liquefaction. Besides being able to increase the response of resistance to liquefaction, the stone column can also function as drainage in reducing the high pore water pressure which can cause liquefaction. The method of using stone column is used in loose non-cohesive soils as liquefaction mitigation while in soft cohesive soils as reinforcement. The stone column is modeled by the analysis of different methods to use FLAC 2D software by using soil data classification of medium soil sites (SD) before experiencing an increase in the value of N-SPT (pre-construction SPT) and after experiencing an increase in the value of N-SPT (post-construction SPT) on the Runway 3 Project of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Cengkareng, Banten. From this modeling, it can be seen that the stone column increases the response of resistance to liquefaction. text
